Use a mailto link to prepare a useful enquiry draft, and understand why it needs a visible email-address fallback.
An email button can do more than open an empty message. A mailto link can supply a recipient and suggested subject so enquiries arrive with useful context. It is especially helpful when one page promotes a specific service.
Suggest context, not a completed conversation
For a photography page, the subject might be “Portrait session enquiry.” A short body can invite the visitor to add preferred dates and the type of session. Leave room for their own message instead of writing a long form inside the email.
The r37dy mailto generator includes recipient, subject, body and optional copy fields. Use a public business address. Addresses embedded in the link, including a BCC value, are not hidden from someone inspecting that link.
Build the link and test the draft
- Enter the intended recipient.
- Add a specific subject and brief optional body.
- Copy the generated result after the fields update.
- Use it as the destination of your email button.
- Open the button and inspect the draft without sending a test message unnecessarily.
Check punctuation and line breaks. The generator handles the URL representation, but the receiving email application determines how the draft opens.
Keep a fallback contact route
Some visitors have no default email application configured. Display the address as readable text so they can copy it into the service they use. A contact form is another option when properly configured and monitored.
A mailto link neither sends the message automatically nor guarantees delivery. It also does not configure the sending mail server for your website's notifications or password resets.
Use the generator for a clear enquiry route. To collect email, portfolio and booking destinations on one page, create a r37dy account and follow the bio page guide.
