Compress image to a target size

Compress a JPEG, PNG or WebP toward a size in kilobytes.

Your files and text stay in your browser. Processors may download on first use.

How to use Compress image to a target size

Choose a target size. The tool adjusts JPEG quality and, when necessary, dimensions. Transparent pixels are flattened onto white.

Standard image tools accept files up to 32 MB and 40 megapixels. HEIC and OCR are limited to 20 MB. A current browser is recommended; review the output before replacing your original file.

A practical example

Set a target in kilobytes, such as 200 KB for an upload form. The tool adjusts JPEG quality and, when necessary, reduces image dimensions to try to fit that target.

Will compressing an image preserve transparency?

No. The result is a JPEG, and transparent areas become white. Keep the original PNG when transparency matters. Compare detail and pixel dimensions before replacing the source, especially for text or logos.
